Youth Guitar Camp

Program Goals

We welcome youth ages 11-18. The program is designed to help participants explore guitar and creativity skills in a structured and fun environment.

  • Increase technical proficiency on the guitar
  • Achieve greater musical confidence
  • Learn to interact musically with others
  • Small group guitar instruction
  • Hand drumming
  • Campfire jams
  • Field sports and games

Lodging

Camp Caledonia is located in Telkwa BC at 2818 Telkwa High Road, situated on Tyhee Lake – 15 minutes from Smithers, BC.  All participants stay at Camp for the entire week.  Food and lodging is covered with the price of registration.  Students bring all personal belongings and bedding.

Camp Staff

Our staff and volunteers possess a genuine interest in creating a safe and encouraging environment while participants pursue musical talents.

The cost of camp is $600
 
A $300 deposit can be paid by cheque or pre-arranged etransfer or Paypal. 
Cheques can be made payable to Bulkley Valley Folk Music Society, and addressed to:

If finances are a barrier to camp, note that some local businesses and individuals have sponsored a limited number of tuitions, because everybody deserves the opportunity to come to camp. Please inquire if financial aid is needed for some/all of camp fee.

No refunds after June 30th unless a replacement can be found.

We Are also Seeking Camp Counsellors:

SYGC requires at least 4 camp counsellors, preferably aged 19 – 25 years old. Experience playing musical instruments is not a requirement, though it is an asset! Counsellors are required to stay overnight at camp, and food and lodging are provided.

Responsibilities can include: sleeping in campers’ cabins, participating in camp activities, helping with camp maintenance, preparing camp workshops, attending all meals and camp wide meetings, upholding camp agreements for respect and wellness.
